  • Overview

    There is one opening in the Yakima County Prosecutor's Office, Corporate Counsel Division, for an Office Specialist. This position performs specialized office support activities involving creating, maintaining, processing, recording, accessing, analyzing data and releasing documents, files and other information which is governed by strict rules and regulations.


    This recruitment may be used to fill additional positions which become vacant within 90 days of the closing date of this posting.


    Creates legal documents and prepares litigation files as needed by attorneys for court. Creates, summarizes, edits and/or distributes a variety of legal documents for Paternity, UIFSA, Contempt and/or appellate cases and garnishments.


    Completes detailed research in various confidential databases to locate absent parents and/or prepare confidential Involuntary Treatment Act files for hearings and cross check gun permits.


    Creates and maintains complex files and databases such as official records or legal case files. Maintains filing systems in accordance with established procedures.


    Provides assistance to the general public and other agencies. Performs specialized activities such as providing non-certified legal interpreting services during confidential interviews for paralegals and attorneys and/or processing garnishments for all Yakima County departments.


    Witness, prepare and certify chain of custody for genetic draws for paternity establishment and/or satisfaction of Judgments for the Yakima County Clerk's Office.


    Other duties as required.


    Education and Experience:

    High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of general office or specialty experience, OR


    Associate's Degree or two-year technical certificate in a related field and one (1) year of related experience; OR


    An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.



    Successful completion of a background investigation.


    This is a Yakima County Courthouse Master Contract Bargaining Unit position. As a condition of employment you are required to become a member of the Unit or pay representation fees per the negotiated contract.


    Equipment Used: Computer, calculator, copier, printer, imaging system and fax machine and telephone.


    Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

    Duties require travel, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, hearing, talking, visual activity. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
