Overview

There is one opening for a Financial Technician with the Yakima County Clerk's Office. This position is responsible for performing general clerical and office support duties related to accessing documents and files; conforming to strict laws and guidelines governing confidentiality. Processes all Legal Financial Obligation payments, balances registers and assists supervisor by gathering report information/statistics as stipulated by supervisor. Assists the public with any Legal Financial Obligation questions. Works closely with our collection agency to communicate payment information.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Reviews court documents for form and completion to ensure compliance with County Clerk’s rules and regulations.
  • Prioritizes and ultimately processes requests for copies from the general public and other agencies.
  • Answers telephone, mail and in-person inquiries regarding account information from victims, criminal defendants and the general public.
  • Receives, processes and provides receipts for payments made by mail and/or in person.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma/GED and (1) full-time year of general office experience of which (6) months are related to accounting experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.

 

Required:   Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience related to the law and justice field, such as legal secretary, paralegal or civil or criminal justice work
  • Computer data entry experience
  • Bilingual in English / Spanish
  • Proficiency with imaging systems and equipment
  • Valid WA State Driver's License

 

Note: This is a Teamsters - Clerk - Local #760 Bargaining Unit position.  As a condition of employment you are required to become a member of the Unit or pay representation fees per the negotiated contract.

 

Equipment Used: Telephone, microfilm/fiche reader/printers, scanner, copy machine, fax machine, computer and department software, printer, shredder and other general office equipment.

 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:  

Position may require: standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, handling, reclining, balancing, kneeling, crouching, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, visual activity and repetitive motions.

Rated as Sedentary Work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
